Last November, the Riverdale Art Center (RAC) opened its doors on Corner of Richard Victorian in Riverdale. Centuries ago, The Richards family in holding since then was sold to end mobile Bograd's next door. The incredibly polite Bograd were to donate using the rather spacious Victorian home and allow to become an Art Centre for the community.
For nearly a year now, the JRC has offered residents of Northern NJ a space to display their beautiful works of art, interact with like-minded people and share in art appreciation. Also Mayor William Budesheim has exhibited and sold, his photography there.In addition, has been constituted a distinct segment of RAC. Riverdale Artists ' cooperative Gallery was organized this summer and currently consists of 10 contemporary artists including sculptors, painters, photographers and printers.
Patricia Watson, Chairman of the Board of Directors and ceramic sculptor, is the woman responsible for the dream of bringing the art of this community beginning. diligent efforts have provided residents of the area with so many fantastic opportunity to bring beauty and deeper awareness of art in their lives.She believes "that the practice of art hands-on encourages a strong sense of well-being, and that sharing art can build communities".
The JRC offers courses of art for children, teens and seniors, as well as special events as guest artist lessons. Monthly opening receptions are held for each new exhibition that brings together art lovers from near and far to share eye-opening dialogue on art and create a strong sense of community, as MS. Watson dreamed.
